Bermia Gorge

The Bermia Gorge is a location in Tales of Xillia for the Playstation 3. The party visits this area after Lord Cline runs off after King Nachtigal in order to stop the king's attempts to power the spyrix devices. It is connected to Sharilton through the Culmar Trail.

[edit] Geography

Bermia Gorge appears, as the name implies, as a gorge filled with many rocky points and peaks. It is one of the few Liminal Regions in Rieze Maxia, where multiple spirit climes collide, presumably the ones from Fennmont and Sharilton, based on the gorge's location.

Within Bermia Gorge is a giant cave, which has been taken by Rashugal for the purpose of draining mana from its citizens to give more power to the king. The cave itself contains multiple holding cells, as well as giant pieces of machinery. It is originally blocked by an open Spirit Arte, but the party is able to enter the cave through the top of the gorge after traversing its multiple levels and paths.

[edit] Enemies

The gorge is home to many different kinds of enemies, including two boss style enemies.

The Nameless Anomaly is the first boss-style monster that the party encounters here, and it is found soon after Rowen casts the channeling circle that flies them down to the bottom of the cave. At first, the monster takes on the form of a lit, monstrous butterfly. After it is defeated, it separates into many different little particles, which causes Milla to try and kill it once and for all, but Jude stops her, and the party realizes that the Nameless Anomaly is just a clump of lesser spirits.

The second boss, which can only be located if the gorge is visited a second time, is called Folzam. It is one of the six Devil's Beasts the the old man in Sapstrath Seahaven tells the party about. This monster rests at the top of the gorge, and holds Jude's weapon, Folzex, the Grudge-Bearer. Folzam is a harpy that is weak to Earth-elemental attacks.

[edit] Sub-Events

  • Pretty and Pink
    • This is the first part of the Pretty and Pink sidequest. The two girls first ask the party to get a Peachberry Blossom, which can only be found in loot bags in Bermia Gorge. Only one is required, so taking it back to the girls after it is found will initiate the next section of the quest.
  • The Shape of Our World
    • After talking to the researcher in Sharilton, the party learns they need to use a specific spirit arte at the top of Bermia Gorge. They return to the top of the gorge and cast the arte, then wait for a little while, unimpressed at what it does. Returning to the researcher in Sharilton will finish this section of the sidequest.
