[edit] Story

The Kingdom's rule expands over land and sea to remain in control of the countless islands that form their country. Areas of land and sea are all divided into "territories."

[edit] Characters

  • ToB Velvet Crowe Thumb.png Velvet Crowe (voiced by Rina Satou)
Velvet is the main character of Tales of Berseria, who is a 19 year old female pirate. Before an incident that occurs three years prior to the story, she used to be a very frank young woman who held a lot of love for her friends and family, however now she is a woman barely able to register emotion, and where the love once was now lies hatred and anger. This cold and angry young woman will soon be enfolded in events that make her extremely important in events that look to shake the very world she inhabits. Her character was designed by Mutsumi Inomata.
  • ToB Laphicet Thumb.png Laphicet (voiced by Azumi Asakura)
A boy without a name used as a tool for artes since birth. He does not know how to live other than in accordance with a master’s orders, and does not have his own opinions or emotions. At first, the way he has no goals of his own irritates Velvet, but throughout their journey, he learns various things and both his heart and will grow and develop. He eventually becomes a support for Velvet, who harbors a violent rage.[1]
  • ToB Rokurou Thumb.png Rokurou Rangetsu (voiced by Daisuke Kishio)
A cheerful and free-spirited young swordsman. A number of years prior, the Daemonblight disease broke out and he became a Daemon but rather than let that get him down, he used that power in order to master his family’s traditional sword techniques and continued to walk his own path. In the wake of a certain event, in order to repay a debt to Velvet, he joins her on her journey. While he carries his cherished long sword called the “Sword of Life” on his back, since he stubbornly does not want to take it out, he usually fights using dual-wielding daggers.[2]
  • ToB Eleanor Hume Thumb.png Eleanor Hume (voiced by Ami Koshimizu)
An exorcist who belongs to the “Abbey”. As a first-class exorcist, she runs about day and night in efforts to free the world from the Daemon threat. She is very serious and does not forget to be considerate of others but there is a side to her that always tries to do the right thing. She tends to project her emotions easily because of her honest personality but she is aware of her own immaturity and tries to devote herself to the heartless truth.[2]
  • ToB Eizen Thumb.png Eizen (voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa)
Eizen is a man known as the “God of Death” and deputy of Aifread’s band of pirates. He works together with Velvet to combat Exorcists, their shared enemy.[3]
  • ToB Magilou Thumb.png Magilou (voiced by Satomi Sato)
Magilou is a mysterious woman who introduces herself as a “great sorceress” and “Head of Menagerie”, even though their reputation is for “unlicensed witchcraft”. She is easy going and rather reckless at times. Extroverted and chatty, Magilou could break the ice in any party conversation, but there’s something sinister about her: something in the heartless things she says to Velvet, and the callous phrases she can sometimes spout, that hint at an evil edge befitting the title “witch”. Magilou’s chatty demeanour hides veiled intent behind gibberish, jokes and lies. Though she seems cheerful enough, there is something of a trickster about her. Occasionally her heartless behaviour can uncover great truths.[4]
  • ToB Bienfu Thumb.png Bienfu (voiced by Nao Nagasawa)
A peculiar malak with a rather unique hat. Bienfu can happily be called an eccentric with its characteristic style and habit of saying “Bieeen” and “Bad!” Bienfu seems feeble but thrives on adversity and lives its life with shrewd attention and strong intent. It seems Bienfu and Magilou may have crossed paths before, though not in good circumstances, as whenever it meets her, it is incredibly fearful. Unlike many other malaks who do not have their own will, Bienfu shows its personality with various facial expressions.[4]
  • ToB Oscar Dragonia Thumb.png Oscar Dragonia (voiced by Tomoaki Maeno)
A strong Praetor exorcist with a strong sense of duty to eradicate all daemons. He is from the Dragonia family, a major aristocracy in the Holy Midgand Empire and Teresa is his older half-sister.[5]
  • ToB Teresa Linares Thumb.png Teresa Linares (voiced by Yui Horie)
A Praetor from the Abbey who governs Hellawes, a northern town in the Holy Midgand Empire. She is known as the “Frozen Queen” because of her cold and stoic personality, although she dotes on Oscar, her younger half-brother and will show emotion when she is alone with him.[5]
  • ToB Shigure Rangetsu Thumb.png Shigure Rangetsu (voiced by Kazuya Nakai)
Shigure is a Legate from The Abbey, an organization of exorcists. He is Rokurou’s brother and is the head of the Rangetsu family. They employ a unique fighting style in order to be the strongest warriors. Even if he is a Legate, he has a freewheeling attitude unappreciated by serious-minded exorcists. However, he justifies his carefree behavior with his prowess in battle. His sole source of joy is to fight tough opponents and he can’t help but laugh when his opponent is stronger than him. Thus, he will never turn down a new challenge if the opportunity presents itself.[6]
  • ToB Melchior Thumb.png Melchior (voiced by Nobuo Tobita)
A Legate elder versed in the ancient legends and a master in alchemy from The Abbey. His years of experience places him as an advisor for Artorius, the head of the exorcists. He recognizes the importance of the exorcists’ missions and that they cannot always be accomplished through good deeds. He is willing to take on the unpleasant tasks. Even though his main role is to support the organisation with strategy and resources, he is a powerful arte-wielder.[6]
  • ToB Ceres Thumb.png Ceres (voiced by Satomi Arai)
A Malak able to control powerful fire magic. She’ll act as Velvet’s guide on her journey. Ceres is under Artorius’ command. But Ceres breaks free of Artorius and helps Velvet escape her imprisonment.[7]
  • ToB Artorius Colbrand Thumb.png Artorius Colbrand (voiced by Kenyu Horiuchi)
Artorius has gained overwhelming support from the people, and possesses a strong sense of reason.[7]
